A two-mass model of a building with dry-friction seismic isolation is investigated. A flat sliding bearing acts in parallel with a restoring spring, while friction is represented by an elastic–perfectly plastic element with finite initial stiffness. Calculations were performed in Python using the Newmark method. The isolated and fixed-base models were compared under synthetic ground acceleration. For the selected parameters, peak superstructure deformation and absolute acceleration decreased by 80.33% and 80.27%, respectively; peak platform displacement reached 54.12 mm. Differences in the main peak responses remained below 0.05% upon time-step refinement. Residual displacement was sensitive to initial stiffness. These findings are limited to the synthetic excitation and require further assessment using recorded ground motions and experimental data.
