The Semantics Of Phraseology Within The Framework Of The English Language
Keywords:
polysemantic phraseme, colloquialisms, tropes, borrowed termsAbstract
Our research focuses on exploring the semantic characteristics of idiomatic
expressions in the English language. Phraseology is regarded as a fundamental aspect of
linguistic units, existing across various levels from individual words to fixed combinations.
This underscores the pervasive nature of this characteristic across much of the English
vocabulary. A lexical idiom may take the form of a single word or represent a lexical
semantic variant, exhibiting either full or partial semantic integrity.
