Abstract: Legal education plays a critical role in shaping the social, political, and
economic landscape of any nation. In Uzbekistan, a country undergoing significant political
and social reforms, legal education is pivotal in the process of building a civil society. A
civil society is characterized by the active participation of individuals in the political, social,
and economic life of the country, with respect for human rights, rule of law, and democratic
values. This article explores the role of legal education in promoting these ideals in
Uzbekistan, highlighting the benefits of an informed populace, enhanced legal literacy, and
the creation of a culture of lawfulness. Furthermore, it discusses the challenges Uzbekistan
faces in reforming legal education and the steps being taken to ensure that future
generations are equipped with the knowledge necessary to foster a robust civil society.
