Democratization of society and the state, development of economic
relations requires the development of international cooperation in all spheres of state
activity, including the fight against crime, and strengthening of relations with foreign
partners. A special role of international cooperation in the fight against crime is related to
the extradition of persons who have committed crimes. In this article, the legal basis of the
institution of extradition based on international conventions, including the UN Convention against Corruption adopted in 2003 and the Convention against Transnational Organized
Crime, to which most countries have joined, regarding extradition, the legal basis of
extradition, and the theoretical and legal issues of the institution of extradition, and
regulatory rules have been studied and analyzed. Conclusions were given regarding the
study of the theoretical and legal issues of the institution of extradition in international law.
