STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY: MODERN CONCEPTUAL APPROACHES

This thesis analyzes the structure and content of social services for the elderly based on modern concepts of social work, gerontology, and integrated service delivery. It argues that limiting social services solely to material assistance or basic daily care fails to fully capture the complex needs of the elderly today. The study highlights the importance of a person-centered approach, comprehensive needs assessment, the preservation of functional capacity, case management, continuity of services, and the principle of "aging in place" when working with older adults. Furthermore, it compares the recent evolution of Uzbekistan’s social service system with the experiences of Japan and Sweden, and explores the prospects for developing an integrated service model for the elderly, anchored within the *mahalla* (neighborhood community) and the "Inson" (Human) social service centers.
