WAYS TO MITIGATE THE NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF OVERTOURISM THROUGH TOURIST FLOW MANAGEMENT IN TOURIST DESTINATIONS

This thesis examines the theoretical foundations of effective tourist flow management in tourist destinations, its importance in mitigating the negative impacts of overtourism, and opportunities for developing sustainable tourism. It analyzes the excessive concentration of tourists in certain areas and at specific tourist attractions, seasonality, overloading of infrastructure, and challenges associated with the use of tourism resources. Key approaches include distributing tourist flows across different times and locations, introducing digital technologies, managing visitors through advance booking systems, developing alternative tourist routes, and taking destination carrying capacity into account. The thesis also substantiates the interrelationship between local communities’ interests, service quality, environmental safety, and the protection of cultural heritage in tourist flow management.
