Abstract

This article discusses the theoretical and technological foundations of obtaining silicate binders based on the calcium oxide (CaO) - silicon oxide (SiO₂) system. The influence of the chemical composition of the raw materials, the CaO/SiO₂ ratio, the synthesis temperature and the thermal treatment conditions on the composition, properties and formation process of silicate binders is analyzed. The importance of calcium silicate phases formed as a result of the interaction between CaO and SiO₂ in determining the strength, solidification process and operational properties of the binder is considered. Also, the possibilities of using local mineral raw materials in the production of silicate binders, reducing energy consumption and improving the physical and mechanical properties of materials are assessed. The results of the study will serve to select the optimal composition and technological parameters for obtaining effective silicate binders with known properties based on the CaO–SiO₂ system.
