Abstract

Background: Psychoemotional stress is a significant systemic factor modifying oral tissue homeostasis [4, 9]. During adolescence, the impact of distress is substantially amplified by pubertal hormonal shifts, autonomic lability, and specific socio-environmental pressures, including academic burden, digitalization, and school bullying [5, 9].

Objective: To summarize current data on the relationship between psychoemotional status and clinical changes in the periodontium, while highlighting the specific role of stress in adolescent periodontal health [4, 8].

Materials and Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted, analyzing contemporary domestic and international studies focusing on the impact of chronic stress, anxiety, and behavioral factors on oral structures [1, 2]. Special attention is given to the gaps in current scientific literature regarding periodontal pathology in adolescents [8, 9].

Conclusion: Psychoemotional status acts as an important modifying component in adolescent oral health [4, 8]. Given the limitations of existing cross-sectional studies on periodontal status, further prospective clinical research combining psychometric assessments and objective periodontal indices is required to establish causal pathways and improve risk prediction [4, 9].
